Dibs For Dogs Reflections

​​​I started Dibs For Dogs (DFD) because I saw firsthand how difficult it can be to find the right service dog, and I wanted to make a difference. Since 2018, I’ve been building this organization with a simple but powerful mission: rescue dogs with service potential and support the handlers who depend on them.

​

PHASE 1 : DFD Den Pilot Project

Phase 1 lays the foundation for our mission by making high-quality dog food and care more affordable while building a community around service dog teams and the people who support them.

​

The DFD Den brings together service dog handlers, dog lovers, vendors, sponsors, and supporters. Paw Partners can support DFD in many ways—not only through donations—and may also take advantage of available DFD Den discounts.

​

Through the DFD Den, we are working to secure discounts, sponsorships, and other opportunities that make high-quality nutrition and care more affordable for service dog teams. Depending on the vendor, some discounts may also be available to other dog handlers and dog lovers.

​

DFD also promotes excellent service-dog training, responsible handling, and access to trustworthy educational resources. Whether you participate by using a discount, supporting DFD, sharing our mission, or making a donation, you can help us build healthier dogs, stronger partnerships, and a more supportive community.

PHASE 2 : Rescue

​

Once Phase 1 has established a solid foundation, DFD plans to expand into rescue operations.

As resources allow, we will work with shelters, rescues, and trainers to identify dogs with potential for service work and help connect suitable dogs with trainers who use positive, humane methods.

​

This approach can benefit everyone involved: dogs get an opportunity to develop their potential, trainers gain access to promising candidates, and shelters and rescues gain space to help more dogs.
